2001 Voltage Regulator Market Forecast and Application Consumption Analysis Market Research Report
Abstract
Because of their role in high growth markets, including communications, consumer, and computers, the voltage regulator business is one of the fastest growing markets in standard linear analog. It is a market that has outperformed microprocessors, DRAM and DSP annual growth from 1999 to 2000. This market is estimated worldwide at $3.2 billion dollars for 2000, an increase of over 70% from the 1999 value of $1.9 billion. The voltage regulator market is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 8.5% over the next five years.

Regrettably, because of close ties to the communications, consumer and computer markets, the downturn will cause the voltage regulator market to contract more than other standard linear categories. In 2001, the voltage regulator market is expected to contract by 18.5% down to $2.6 billion dollars. Still, 2002 and 2003 are expected to be positive growth years as the drop off in demand should subside by the fourth quarter of 2001 and inventories will be back on track. In 2002 the total market should increase by 26% to $3.3 billion, slightly higher than 2000 values. 2003 should also perform well with an increase of 23.5% to just over $4 billion.
