Abstract
The computer market for semiconductors includes all any devices that are used inside desktops, notebooks, tablets, printers, storage, POS terminals, and any other computer peripherals. Databeans expects that this market will reach $87.3 billion in global sales. This will be a slight decrease of 6 percent in sales from 2011.
Important product markets in these applications will remain microprocessors, logic ICs, and memory (both Flash and DRAM). While the desktop market continues to mature, there are still significant opportunities in this market segment, primarily within the application markets for tablet PCs and new ultra-powerful portable computers or "Ultrabooks" both which are both expected to grow significantly this year.
