| Abstract |
| Industrial semiconductors generated
$20 billion in global revenue for 2004. The largest industrial
semiconductor segment was industrial controls, with an
estimated 32 percent share of the market. |
| Other segments within the industrial
semiconductor market were: test and measurement (23 percent),
military/aerospace (11 percent), and medical (10 percent).
Products not specific to any of the aforementioned segments
constituted about 24 percent of the market. Analog ICs
constitute the largest market share of industrial semiconductors,
at 18 percent of the market, and demand is especially strong
now for analog power and special purpose components. The
industrial analog IC market was valued at $3.4 billion
for 2004. |
| In Databeans' latest report, entitled "2005
Industrial Analog ICs," analysts look at the use of
industrial analog ICs, such as ASIC/ASSP (special purpose),
analog power ICs, data converters, amplifiers, comparators,
and interface, in relation to the major industrial consumption
segments. Industrial controls and test and measurement
represent the largest opportunities for ASIC/ASSP industrial
analog suppliers, with a combined estimated market value
of over $1 billion for this year. And although it is relatively
small, the medical segment is where most of the growth
is taking place, due to the increased demand for home medical
electronics and rapidly evolving medical technology. Visibly,
more high performance analog suppliers are focused on this
space, bringing to market scores of new products optimized
for such high end applications as medical imaging, patient
monitoring, and implantable devices. |
| In this new study, forecast data and
commentary is given on the usage and growth potential for
industrial analog ICs in medical, test and measurement,
industrial controls, and military/aerospace. The report
also examines regional growth for industrial analog ICs,
and includes updates on how the major suppliers are doing,
including global market shares. |
