Abstract
Analog power is now one of the fastest growing markets in the semiconductor industry, due to the greater demand for power management in portable electronics.
Based upon revenue, the largest analog power product segment is switching regulators, followed closely by linear regulators. However, in terms of units shipped, linear regulators typically outnumber switching regulators by more than 2 to 1. Switching regulators will continue to generate higher revenue, and market share will continue to increase, relative to linear regulators.
A relatively new product addition to this space is digital power ICs. Databeans estimates that digital power products are growing at a compound annual growth rate of 25 percent each year. Digital power products essentially incorporate analog power functions around a digital core that can be programmed.
This study provides readers with an in-dept analysis of the analog power management market. Forecasts for revenue, unit shipments, and ASPs are presented for switching regulators, general purpose linear regulators, low dropout regulators, digital power products, and other battery management and references. Revenue forecasts are provided for power products by region and by market segment. Market share for 2004 is presented for the suppliers of analog power management products.
