| Abstract |
The automotive electronics
market is being driven by several factors. A few would
include increasing global competition, longer vehicle
life (more upgrade possibilities), consumer and regulatory
demands for more safety systems, the need for greater
fuel efficiency, and growing demand for new in-vehicle
entertainment devices. These trends all point toward
increasing automotive electronics density and complexity,
which lead to higher levels of components integration
and more silicon content.
|
| The total automotive electronics market
should reach nearly $150 billion in five years time, assuming
a growth rate of 10 percent on average per year. In contrast
to the growth rate for worldwide vehicle production, which
has been estimated at about 3 percent for the forecast
period, the automotive electronics market is growing at
a much faster pace, in terms of revenue. These elements
drive increasing opportunities for automotive semiconductor
suppliers with microcontroller and analog suppliers leading
the way. |
| Automotive analog revenue is expected
to grow 17 percent this year, outpacing the entire semiconductor
industry growth estimated at 13 percent. Application
specific automotive analog products constitute 25 to 30
percent of the typical automotive semiconductor bill of
materials: they are the primary focus of this new study, “2006
Automotive Analog ICs”. The products are found in
multiple systems - from the drivetrain to cockpit electronics.
They function as the signal conditioning circuits used
alongside the various microcontrollers and related sensors
in most automotive subsystems. |
| This study provides readers with a
detailed analysis of demand for automotive analog ICs by
product type, region, and application area. Market
share and supplier new product development is also included. |
| This study is available through individual
report purchase for $1,995.00 USD or available
at a discounted rate through our 2006 Analog Markets
