Abstract

According to Databeans’ newly released report, “2006 Computer Analog”, the computer analog IC segment will see real opportunities for growth, especially in the near future, as demand from the Asia Pacific region will continue to be high, and as the overall computer market experiences a significant upswing. The largest end market for semiconductors is computers, with a revenue share of about 37 percent. Analog plays a significant role in the application market for computers by supporting motor control for servo, stepper, and spindle motors that feed paper through printers, move contact image sensors along a flat bed scanner, and spin hard disk drives in PCs.

The majority of computer analog revenue comes from ASIC/ASSP. These terms can refer to either standard products that have been designed to implement specific application functions, or circuits specifically designed to suit a customer's particular requirements. In 2005, revenue for computer analog surpassed $3 billion. Databeans expects to see close to 10 percent growth for 2006, which is consistent with higher growth in semiconductors overall. And then expects even greater growth in 2007, when the market for computers should be up, due in part to the release of the new Microsoft operating system.
This new study is an in-depth look at computer analog ICs. The report covers regional markets, Europe, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Japan and provides forecasts for computer analog by product.  Also included is a comprehensive look at application markets and what drives growth for computer analog ICs. The report concludes with detailed product market share information for storage and peripheral analog computer ICs. Market share is also presented by region.
This study is available through individual report purchase for $1,995 USD or available at a discounted rate through our 2006 Analog Markets Worldwide Service, which includes this study as well as other in-depth reports on Amplifiers, Comparators, Data Converters, Interface, Analog Power Management, and other application specific devices.
