Medical electronics constitute a
small but very attractive part of the industrial semiconductor
market. In 2005, the medical segment represented 8 percent
of the $25.9 billion global industrial semiconductor
market, or about $2.1 billion. Growing at a compound
annual growth rate of 11 percent each year, this market
should reach $4.1 billion by 2011. Increasing product
sales opportunities are found in the home consumer medical
market and in imaging, where increasing semiconductor
content in advanced designs is driving demand.
