Abstract
Year 2007 was a somewhat challenging time for analog suppliers. Revenue was affected primarily by decreased demand coming from wireless applications, especially from mobile handsets, a high volume market. Lower ASPs also contributed to slowing growth.

The most successful analog suppliers for last year were those that reduced expenses, or found new opportunities for growth in other product areas, such as in the industrial market segments. In 2007, there appeared to be a temporary lapse in the market, but a return to growth is expected for this year.

Analog continues to be one of the significant drivers in the semiconductor industry. Products included in the analog segment are some of the most demanded electronic circuits in today’s applications. Devices such as audio power amplifiers, front end consumer signal conditioning circuits, and voltage regulators are all products that are required in high volume application markets, such as mobile handsets, portable consumer electronics, flat panel televisions, and automobiles.
The analog IC market can be divided into two segments: standard linear products and application specific products. In 2007, the largest contributor to worldwide revenue was application specific wireless products, with 22.3 percent of the total analog market. Power ICs, including products such as linear regulators and DC-DC converters, were the second largest contributor to worldwide analog revenue in 2007. Power product revenue constituted a 19.5 percent share of worldwide revenue.
