Abstract

Automotive semiconductors consumption, like the automotive electronics market in general, is being driven by a variety of factors, which should be carefully examined, as suppliers compete to provide equipment and parts manufacturers with the best solutions.

Databeans estimates the automotive electronics market at a value of $114.5 billion for 2008. For this market, 28 percent of revenue comes from consumer retail, the most from any segment, followed by entertainment-information electronics, safety systems, driver assistance, and powertrain.
The total automotive electronics market is expected to reach $173.7 billion in five years time, assuming a growth rate of 9 percent on average per year. In contrast to the growth rate for worldwide vehicle production, which has been estimated at about 3 percent for the forecast period, the automotive electronics market is growing at a much faster pace, in terms of revenue. This demonstrates the general trend of increasing automotive electronics density and complexity.
This study is available through individual report purchase for $2,995.00 USD, or available at a discounted rate through our 2008 Databeans Annual Library, the 2008 Semiconductor Product and Application Service, or the 2008 Semiconductor Application Service which includes this study as well as other
in-depth reports on Semiconductor Market Share, Semiconductors, Consumer Semiconductors, Computer Semiconductors, Medical Semiconductors, Military and Aerospace Semiconductors, Process Control Semiconductors, Test and Measurement Semiconductors and Wireless Semiconductors.
