Process Control is the largest industrial electronics market segment, accounting for an estimated 40 percent of the total market, or $194 billion in revenue expected for 2010. It is also one of the industrial electronics market’s fastest growing categories, with an estimated compound annual growth of 8 percent for the forecast period through year 2015.
Process control equipment represents a diverse market, and includes two major types of electronics: manufacturing controls and commercial controls. Manufacturing Controls is currently the smaller of the two segments, with 38 percent of the market for 2010. Commercial Controls represent the other 62 percent of process control application revenue. The segments are each currently at an average growth rate of 8 percent.
Test and Measurement will be the single largest industrial semiconductor segment by revenue with an estimated 21 percent of the market for this year. Process Control will be the second largest with an estimated 19 percent of the market for 2010. Medical and Military/Aerospace are predicted to account for roughly 11 percent and 9 percent respectively, while all other industrial products will constitute the remaining 40 percent of market share.
